Time Lapse Video: The Deflation Of BC Place Stadium

2

Many Lions fans will have great memories of BC Place Stadium, and some will rejince that they have watched their last game under the dome. Whatever your feelings, the Vancouver skyline and watching BC Lions entered a new era this morning when the dome was deflated for the last time, making way for a new retractable roof to be completed in 2011.

Vancouver blogger VanCity Allie of VancityAllie.com took this great time lapse video and agreed to let us share it with BCLionsDen.ca readers. Follow her on Twitter @vancityallie and check out her great blog.

The 1994 Grey Cup and 2004 Western final were my too favorite BC Place moments. The Western Final’s with Winnipeg in the 80′s were great as well. I saw my first concert in BC Place. Supertramp, Bryan Adams and the Payola’s. Had Whitecaps season tickets when they were in the NASL as well.

When the place was full it was a great place to watch a football game. I’ll miss it for sure, but look forward to a new era of Lions football!

The 1985 Western Final is my favourite BC Place memory, which I’ve written about umpteen times. It was bittersweet to watch the marshmallow roof slowly deflate today. On the one hand, it’s the end of an era. On the other hand, I’m excited about the new roof. Excellent time lapse videos Brian! The poor old dome looks like a heart in ventricular flutter at the end there, with the up and down movement. I checked it out again after work and it’s sure a different skyline without it.
